February 1st is St. Brigid’s Day – Lá Fhéile Bríde – and Ireland celebrates their female patron saint. This day celebrates the beginning of Spring. The Juniors were very busy learning all about St. Brigid and her story. The Juniors learned about St. Brigid’s upbringing, how she looked after the poor and the sick and how her cloak got her the land, she needed to build a church. They children sequenced the story of St. Brigid’s Cloak and wrote some sentences retelling the story. During playtime, they decorated St. Brigid’s cloak using lots of different patterned fabrics, and made paper crosses, like those that St. Brigid made.
