December was a very busy month in the Junior Room. Not only were the elves busy working in Santa’s workshop, there were lots of Christmas play preparations, costume changes, Christmas crafts and a ‘see you soon’.
There had been a number of angels, sheep, stars and elves roaming around the Junior Room in the run up to Christmas, as the children prepared for their starring roles in their Christmas play – ‘A Midwife Crisis!’ The Junior Room worked very hard on their singing, acting and dancing in the lead up to the recording of their play and their hard work paid off. Well done Junior Room!
The boys and girls also made some beautiful paper angels, which they took home to hang on their Christmas trees.
In Aistear, the children were still working on and learning about the theme of ‘Santa’s Workshop’ and the elves were very busy making and creating toys, as well as wrapping presents and writing gift tags. It got that hectic in the workshop, that even some of the elves managed to be gift wrapped!
The boys and girls even had a visit from the main man himself – Santa Claus! The children sang Christmas carols to welcome Santa in and he presented a gift to all the boys and girls in St. Thomas’.
On our final day of term, before the Christmas holidays, the children enjoyed a morning of Christmas festivities. The children opened some gifts that were left under the Christmas tree, pulled some crackers and watched a Christmas movie while munching on some treats! Last but not least, we had to say ‘see you soon’ to one of our friends in the Junior Room – Alex. We wish you the very best of luck on your big adventure! We will miss you very much and we are really looking forward to seeing you again in September!
