St Patrick’s Day is always a huge celebration in St Thomas’ and this year was no different! On the 16th March, bhí Lá Glas againn. Tháinig gach duine ar scoil gleasta ina n-éadaí glas. (Everyone came to school dressed in their green clothes). The staff loved looking at all of the sparkly hats, face paint and fabulous green clothes!
In the Junior Room, the children reminded themselves of the story of St Patrick and learnt about how important he is to Ireland. Through the story, they also learned of why Ireland uses the symbol of the shamrock and in celebration of it, the children created some art work inspired by its shape. First, the children used chalk to create a rainbow and then painted over it with green paint. They looked fantastic!
For Aistear, Ms. Mills set up the tray with St Patrick’s Day-themed sensory items like green rice, shamrock beads and gold pompoms. The children had a great time playing freely. Finally, to end our celebrations we all sat down to eat a slice of cake that Lauren had decorated especially for the occasion.
Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig oraibh!
