As our school year draws to a close, what better way to finish than with Active Week. There have been various activities happening throughout the school. The Juniors had some interesting challenges including the ‘Penguin Challenge’, the ‘Sit-Down Stand-Up Challenge’ and the ‘No Hand Pick Up Challenge’. Their skills were certainly put to the test. Throughout the year, the Junior Room have really enjoyed dancing, so our week would not have been complete without busting a few moves thanks to DJ Raphi!
On Tuesday, the whole school participated and enjoyed Sport’s Day. Following the previous two years of distancing, we were finally able to have a Sport’s Day were all the boys and girls were together.
The day started off with our ‘Daily Mile’ to get us warmed up for the day. This was followed by an intense game of ‘Hula Hoop Rock, Paper, Scissors’ and the iconic game of ‘Flush the Toilet’! Soon after the class races commenced.
The Junior Room, 3rd and 4th Class and 5th and 6th Class competed against one another in a variety of races, including a sprint, crawling race, three-legged race, wheelbarrow race, sack race, spud and spoon race and bean bag race. We took a well-deserved break to refresh ourselves for the next part of our Sport’s Day activities.
After break time, the children had to show case their best dance moves and the blue and orange team went head-to-head in a dance off. Arms were swinging and legs were moving to classics including Baby Shark and the Cha-cha Slide.
The children then took part in one of their favourite races, the sponge race. It was blues versus oranges in a spectacular display of both speed and water saving skills! The water challenges didn’t stop there, as the boys and girls took great pleasure in a sponge throwing exercise, at none other than Mr. Hales!
Well done to all the boys and girls for taking part and showing great sportspersonship. It was another enjoyable Sports Day for all.
