The children took part in some exciting activities this year to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Firstly, they created some abstract prints by sandwiching blobs of paint between paper and squeezing it. This was lots of fun and we loved how well the colours mixed! Once it had dried, we cut out heart shapes and stuck them to pictures of each child to look like balloons. Another art project we took on was paper folding to create heart wreaths to give to our parents. This was a very tricky skill, but the children really took their time to make their hearts perfect.

A new favourite activity in the Junior Room is baking. Our first session in the kitchen this year came when we made Valentine’s chocolate bars. The children melted pink and white chocolate in the microwave, making sure it didn’t burn and mixed it well before placing it back in the microwave. Then they swirled the different chocolates together and added Valentine’s sweets and sprinkles.

We hope you had a lovely Valentine’s Day!
